Hosting in general – although it allows sending emails – is not intended for mass emailing. If you need to send, for example, a newsletter in the amount of several hundred emails per day or more, we recommend doing so via an external service intended for that purpose, for example MailChimp. The reason is not that we don’t want to allow our clients to send emails in bulk. Nowadays, when everyone is fighting spam, mass sending of emails would result in our servers being added to so-called blacklists. This can cause other emails that our clients want to send to often not reach their destination at all and get returned. The whole purpose of this restriction is therefore to protect our clients and thus you as well.
Viruses
Besides knowingly sending a newsletter, another cause is viruses. They settle on your computer, steal your email login credentials (most often from Outlook) and send these credentials out into the world to spammers. The spammers then use these credentials to send spam through our email server.
What are the specific limits?
Emails can be sent through our hosting in two ways:
Via SMTP: Using SMTP, you can send only using port 587. With SMTP, we monitor the number of emails sent per day and if it exceeds several hundred, we disable it and notify you by email. After midnight, it can be enabled again.
Using the mail() function in PHP: Here we have
exact rules, namely 75 emails per 30 min and a maximum of
10 recipients in a single message. If you reach this limit,
the mail() function returns FALSE, so you will
immediately know that the limit has been reached and you can send the next batch
of emails later.
Using Webmail: The maximum number of recipients in CC is limited to 50 for regular email sending and 30 recipients for forwarding.
