An RSS feed is actually just a path to a file on the Internet that contains the latest information you are interested in. If you put this path (link) into an RSS reader, you will be kept up to date with what has been added to the site you are watching.
An RSS reader can be an application that runs on your computer. Just add a link to the RSS feed you get from the site you want to subscribe to, and the reader will then inform you regularly if there is something new on that site.
