Virus infecting sites via FTP

There is a virus that infects your computer and steals stored FTP passwords from your FTP client (for example, Total Commander). It then connects itself to your FTP and modifies the files (most often index.php or index.html). It uploads its malicious code into these files.

How to defend yourself?

Do the following:

  1. Clean all infected FTP files of malicious code (just delete the code in a text editor).
  2. Change all passwords on FTP (on our hosting you can do this in Administration)
  3. Do not save the new passwords anywhere (you must remember them)
  4. Unvirus your computer, it very likely contains some kind of trojan that caused this.
