Node.js

Node.js is a runtime environment that makes it possible to run JavaScript outside the browser, typically on a server. It is built on Google’s V8 engine, thanks to which it achieves high performance. The main advantage is that the developer uses one language for both frontend and backend.

A key feature is asynchronous and non-blocking processing of operations—the program does not wait for each operation to finish, but continues and processes the result as soon as it is available. This is especially efficient for tasks that are input/output intensive. Node.js is therefore often used for:

  • web servers and REST APIs,
  • applications with a large number of concurrent connections,
  • realtime applications (chats, notifications, collaboration tools),
  • microservices and serverless functions.

To run a Node.js application, you need an environment that can start and serve it. This is offered by Blueboard.cz Application Hosting, where you can run applications built on frameworks such as Next.js, Nuxt, Express, or NestJS. Application hosting is activated with one click for the selected domain, you upload the application via Git, install dependencies using npm, and start the process via pm2. The domain’s SSL certificate works here as well, and the domain can be switched back to PHP mode at any time.
